Order Preparation
All of our products are made to order, which means that every piece of your order has received hands-on care every step of the way. So what does that process look like?
Our models are currently printed with a medium gray, water soluble resin. Once printed, the printing plate is hung at a 45 degree angle to allow any excess resin to drip. While on the plate, the model pieces are initially washed in filtered and softened water to remove any additional resin. The parts are removed from the plate and rinsed again in an ultrasonic cleaner set at 28 degrees Celsius for 10-20 minutes (and longer if necessary). The model pieces are then washed again for a third time to ensure that all resin is removed. Finally, they are placed on a table to air dry.
Before curing, all pieces are removed from their supports, trimmed, sanded, and detailed. Next, your order is cured in an ultraviolet light chamber for an average of 5 minutes per piece and evaluated for any defects or additional detailing work. By the end of the process, your model has had anywhere from 8 to 15 total hours (or possibly more depending on the number of plates printed) invested in it to ensure it meets the quality standard that we would expect if we ordered it. Finally, Lauren individually bubble wraps, packs, and weighs each order before printing the shipping labels.
There may rarely be water condensation (moisture) in the bags. We apologize if this occurs. The water can form from the temperature change (North Carolina to its destination) or from coming from our homestead a mile from the Chowan River to wherever it is destined (high humidity area). We promise they are 100% safe to handle when they leave here. We have 4 sons (11 and under) and they (occasionally, lol) help handle and pack orders. We would NEVER let them handle anything toxic, not to mention all of our livestock. We currently raise chickens, ducks, and rabbits and have a large turkey and deer population, so anything toxic is a big NO around here.
In addition, you may also notice some sanding marks on the model (very fine white scratches). These are due to the post production work that Lauren spends making sure everything is as it should be (turrets turn, guns fit, no wobbles, no gaps, nothing that would be noticeable after assembly and paint).
We do our best to preassemble all models and kits to make sure they are as simple to assemble and paint out of the box as possible. Please let us know if you need any help or assembly tips.
Our entire family really and truly appreciates your order and for your support. You put the food on our table and provide the feed for our livestock. Without your support, this amazing job wouldn't be possible.
